Baccarat Queen Film is Being Developed in Hollywood

Crazy Rich Asians producing company Ivanhoe Pictures is planning to make a film about Cheung Yin “Kelly” Sun, also known as the Baccarat Queen.

The film is inspired by the 2012 scandal, in which Kelly and a fellow “King of Poker” Phil Ivey won $10 million in Borgata casino in Atlantic City. The casino claimed that this was done by using the edge sorting technique, which implies recognizing the uneven cut on the edges of the cards to guess their value.

A lawsuit followed from the casino and subsequently raised Kelly’s popularity, who previously struggled to earn major winnings and leaving nearly $20 million in casinos playing Baccarat.

The film promises a diverse cast and a thrilling story of cunning and revenge, according to Ivanhoe Pictures president John Penotti.

Despite the announcement, the film is yet to appear on the Ivanhoe Pictures IMDb page and the approximate release date was not announced.
